William Robert Sanford age 93 of Watertown, died Thursday  morning, Sept. 3, 2026 at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro. Born Jan. 17, 1933 in Smyrna, TN, he was the son of the late Houston Robert Sanford and Charlotte Campbell Sanford. He  was preceded in death by a his wife, Velma Jean Sanford on July 11, 2025; a daughter-in-law, Susan Sanford and his sister, Louise Fields.

He attended Central High School in Nashville and was a US Army veteran. Robert was a retired truck driver for Roadway Express.

He is survived by his sons ,Lynn Sanford, Charles Sanford and his wife, Debbie, and John R. Sanford and his wife, Katie; grandchildren, William Sanford (Carmen), Jeff Sanford (Katie), Beth Hibpshman (Andy) Johnathan Sanford (Hallie) Tommy Bohrn; and 8 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, 2026 at Hunter Funeral Home with William Lee Sanford officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. till service time on Thursday. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Interment with military honors will follow at Hunter Memorial Park.
