Stephen Nelson Carlile age 79 of Watertown, died Saturday afternoon, May 30, 2026 at Vanderbilt-Wilson Hospital in Lebanon.  Born July 10, 1946 in Lafayette, IN, son of the late Lowell Nelson Carlile and Anna Delores Timmons Carlile.

Steve received his Masters of Education from Middle Tennessee State University and retired from teaching at Watertown Middle School and Watertown High School after a 40 year career. He was a member of Watertown First Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday school teacher and Deacon. Steve served in the US Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1970 as a SSGT.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Shirley Ann Robertson Carlile; daughters, Julie Ann Rogers and her husband, Braxton and Jennifer Lynn Udulutch and her husband, Brad; grandchildren, Daniel (Jessica( Rogers, Greer and Emily Udulutch. He is also survived by his sister, Judy McKinney and her husband, Ed of Redmond, OR.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at Hunter Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Burns and Bro. Don Mathis officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday and Noon till service time on Wednesday.
