Lounita married the love of her life, Bobby Howard, on February 19, 1983. They lived on the family farm where she helped him raise crops and cattle in addition to being a full-time entrepreneur. She was the owner and editor of the Watertown Gazette, and later started The Edge local newspaper from the ground up. She believed in the need for a local newspaper to report and share the news in the community, and she made herself a niche and filled that demand.
Lounita was involved in just about everything she possibly could be, including the Chambers of Commerce of both Lebanon and Watertown, the Wilson County Fair, Wilson County 911 board, Leadership Wilson, Wilson One, and the Lebanon Business and Professional Women. She was the current President of the Lascassas/Milton Lion's Club; former editor of the MTSU paper; Executive Director of United Way; editor, journalist, & marketer at the Lebanon Democrat; and a founding member of the Women's Build committee for Wilson County Habitat for Humanity.
Those who knew her knew they had a friend for life. She treated everyone with respect and dignity, and naturally made sure everyone around her felt welcome and involved. She was the definition of giving… of her time, her love, and her warmth.
