Lonnie Ladell George age 83, passed away peacefully at home in Raleigh, NC with family by his side on Oct. 24, 2018. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018 at the Commerce Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Watertown, with Rev. Rodney Duckett officiating. Interment will follow in the Commerce Cemetery. Lonnie was born Dec. 1, 1934 in Watertown, TN. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and graduated from Mississippi State University with degrees in Math and Electrical Engineering. He worked in the Aerospace industry with Boeing and Bendix and retired as plant engineer of Pine Hall Brick in Madison, NC. After taking residence in Alabama, he worked and retired from Mannington Wood Floors.  Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Walter Preston George and Anna Mary Walker George; brother, James Monroe George and sisters, Sarah Ann Gill and Florence Katherine McClanahan. He leaves behind his wife, Eva Robertson-George; daughter Jo Ellen Lucas; son, John Ladell George; step-daughter, Lisa Robertson Sanders (Ben); step-son, Jarratt Padgett Robertson (Geneva) all from NC and sisters, Bonnie Lavell Hodge from Indiana and Edna Mai Johnson of Mississippi. He was blessed with 2 granddaughters, Elizabeth Padgett Robertson and Lauren Grace Sanders; 3 grandsons, Marcus Taylor Bell, Christopher Joshua George and Austin Gray Sanders; 2 great-granddaughters, Delilah Rose Bell and Lydia Taylor Bell and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown and Mary Janice "Jan" McClanahan Hall for their assistance in preparing the celebration of life for our loved one. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Alzheimer Association or to the Commerce Cumberland Presbyterian Church would be appreciated.
