Joyce Rebecca Chaffee age 83 of the Walter Hill Community, died Sunday morning, Oct. 29, 2017 at her residence. Born Oct. 13, 1934, she was the daughter of the late John Odus Orrand and Zemmer Johnson Orrand and was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Gammons and brothers, Vernon, Maxie, John B. and George "Buck" Orrand. Joyce was a 1954 graduate of East High School and worked 25 years with the Marriott Hotels, she served as a lieutenant with the Civil Air Patrol. Joyce is survived by her sons, James Michael Hicks of Walter Hill and Jeffrey Lynn Hicks of Colorado; grandchildren, Brittany and Zachary Hicks; brother, Charles (Audrey) Orrand of Mt. Juliet; nieces and nephews. Funeral services 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017 at Hunter Funeral Home with T.J. Hewitt officiating. Visitation 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and prior to services Wednesday. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Interment at Jones Hill Cemetery.
