James Woodrow Christian, Sr. age 80 of McMinnville, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2024 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro. Born March 10, 1944 in Wilbert, WV, he was the son of the late Herbert Bailey Christian and Virginia Edith Browning Christian. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Mose and Frances Dotson Christian; his maternal grandparents, Earl Dane Browning and Josephine "Josie" Browning; brothers. Larry J. Christian and his wife, Judith Ann "Judy" Bragg Christian and Earl Richard Christian; daughter-in-law, Cindy Malone Christian.
James was a retired truck driver who spent many days traveling the states and getting to tell all his stories of the trips he took. In his younger days he was a drummer who loved to play music and tell the stories of all the famous people he played music with. He was an avid race car fan. James loved to read, fish, relax and enjoyed his time with his family and of course telling his stories. He was of the Pentacostal faith.
Those left to cherish his memory are his brother, Alfred E. "Bobby" Christian and sister, Myrna Loy (Jerry Dale) Browning; his sons, Dwayne Eric (Crystal) Christian, James Woodrow Christian, Jr. and Edward Shane (Addie) Christian; daughters, Kathy Ann (Steve) Thomason and Michelle Lee Christian; adopted daughters, Alaysia Chalet Christian and Alonna LaShae Christian; 9 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; and 2 incredible special caregivers, Tracie Hayes Dunn and Teresa Rodrigues.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 11, 2024 at Hunter Funeral Home with Bro. Roger Grisham officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. till service time on Thursday. Pallbearers, Christopher Christian, Nate Ashford, Mike Demoore, Brandon Bias, Herman Wilson, Hunter Wilson. Interment will be at Hillview Cemetery in Alexandria.
