Helen Rose Rutland age 66 of Alexandria, died Tuesday morning, Oct. 1, 2019 at Vanderbilt-Wilson Hospital in Lebanon. Born Feb. 12, 1953 in Smith County, she was the daughter of the late Priest and Layuna Stokes Rutland. Helen is survived by her husband, Tim Bates of Alexandria; daughter, Francene Abston of Smithville; son, Mardain Rutland of Lebanon; grandchildren, Kristain, Courtney and Jazmin Abston; sister, Martha Notie Winfrey of Nashville; nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by 4 brothers, James, William, Lee Ray and Priest Rutland, Jr. and  5 sisters, Kathrine Corder, Mary Emma Winfrey, Lula Ann Eddins, Frances Gaines and Laura Manning. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, 2019 at Hunter Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Friday from Noon till service time.
