Carolyn Frances
Dodson
Aug 14, 1951 — May 17, 2022
Watertown
Carolyn Frances Dodson age 70 of Watertown, passed away on May 17, 2022 at her home, surrounded by family and friends, as she lost her battle with cancer. Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, George Almar Dodson IV on Jan. 27, 2019 and by her sister, Linda Dennis. A Celebration of Life for Carolyn and George will be held on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2022 at Hunter Memorial Park in Watertown. Family and friends will gather at 10 a.m. Saturday morning at Hunter Funeral Home and proceed to the cemetery in procession.
Carolyn was born Aug. 14, 1951 in Charlotte, NC to the late James Edward Walker and Hallie Marlon Griffin Walker. Carolyn retired from BG&E in 1995 with 21 years of service and went on to work another 19 years with corporate Cracker Barrell until her final retirement. In retirement, she became a master gardener and spent time planting flowers for both the local wildlife and vermin alike. Cone flowers were a staple to the farm because they brought the local yellow finches to the property in the fall and she enjoyed seeing them. She always loved to tell the story of how George saved 24 flying squirrels from the attic and relocated them to the creek behind the post office of Watertown. She found joy and peace in nature and had a soft heart for abandoned animals, especially the ones that were dropped off on Rocky Branch Road.
She is survived by her son, George McWilliams of Watertown and her beloved granddaughter, Larissa McWilliams of North Carolina. She also is survived by sisters, Mary Ann (Jamey) Stephenson of Alabama, Jackie Richvoldson of Texas and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved her, friends and family alike, because of her love, caring, understanding and acceptance for all that were lucky enough to cross her path.
Please leave a fond memory and plant a flower of your choice for my MOM!
