Betty Frances Harmon Jones age 84, of Lebanon, TN, formerly of Ravenswood, WV, passed away peacefully on Dec. 5, 2023. Betty was born and raised in Charleston, WV on Dec. 31, 1938, and was the daughter of Opal Moffett Cole and Okey Harmon. She was a graduate of Charleston High School and worked in several diners and at the Diamond Dept. Store until she met and married the love of her life David, in 1957. They lived in Morgantown, WV, Aberdeen, MD and Follansbee, WV, until David began working at the (then) Kaiser Aluminum Plant in Ravenswood in 1967, and they moved their family to the house on Fleming St. in Ravenswood where they resided until health issues forced them to move close to their youngest son and daughter-in-law in Lebanon, TN for assistance in 2019. Shortly after moving to Ravenswood, Betty started taking accounting classes and classes through H & R block ta become an income tax preparer. She worked at the Ravenswood and Pt. Pleasant H & R block locations until her retirement in 1987. Betty loved being outside and participated in several outdoor activities. One was spending time with their children when they were young at the country club pool and enjoyed taking the water aerobics classes with all her "girlfriends" at the Ravenswood pool for many years. She was also an avid gardener and was active in the River Herbalist group for many years and loved ta golf where she participated in a Women's league at Green Hills Country Club. In her quiet times, she loved to needlework and cross stitch many beautiful works of art. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, David R. Jones, Sr., son David R. Jones Jr. and siblings Robert Moffett, Arbutus "Boots" Morris, Ronald "Juper" Moffett, James Cole, and Shirley Welch. She is survived by her daughter, Dovie Bowen of Barboursville, WV, and son Denis (Lynn) of Watertown, TN. Grandchildren: Melissa (Daniel) Starcher, of Ravenswood, WV, Christina Jones of Parkersburg, WV, Jacob (Sarah) Bowen of Horse Shoe, NC, Morgan (Ryan) Crum of Lebanon, TN and Sylvie Jones of Crowley, LA and seven great-grandchildren. The family will be having a memorial for their dad, David R. Jones, at the same time where his ashes will be buried with Betty. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 1 pm at Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood, WV with Pastor Chris Skeens officiating. Friends may visit the family from 11:00-1:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Ravenswood Cemetery, Ravenswood, WV. We also want to thank The Pavilion Senior Living at Lebanon Long Term Care Center for the excellent care that they provided for Betty the past 4.5 years. They made her move and transition to TN easy. Also, a shout out to Shani, for being the best roommate she could have ever had. She was her advocate when we were not there and was able to understand what she was saying and needed. Betty loved each and every person at the Pavilion. We also want to thank all of Bettv's Ravenswood friends for all the cards, calls and flowers you sent to her each month. They brightened her day and she loved them and loved y'all!
