Obituary

Annie Marie Smith, age 88, of Lebanon, TN, a longtime resident of Watertown, entered her eternal home with the Lord on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2026. She passed away peacefully at her home in Lebanon, surrounded by the love of her family.  Annie's life was a beautiful reflection of hard work, faith, love, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family.

Above all, Annie loved her family and took great pride in caring for them and telling them about Jesus. As a mother and grandmother, she was the truest example of what a godly woman should be—not only to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, but to everyone she met. Her greatest desire was to see her children, grandchildren, family, and friends accept Christ as their Lord and Savior.  She never missed an opportunity to talk with them about Jesus and share the love of her Savior.

She worked for many years at Robertshaw Lux Clock and the Tennessee Woolen Mills.

Annie was born in Watertown, in the Mahome Community on Sept. 6, 1938, to the late Cecil Vantrease and Charmie Williamson Vantrease. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Smith; two brothers, Charles Edward Vantrease and Emmett Vantrease; her son, Phillip Goolsby and her son-in-law, Jerry Shrum.  She leaves behind her children, Debbie Shrum; Ricky (Sherrie) Goolsby; Anthony (Connie) Goolsby; Sherry (Derrick) Satterfield; and Vickie (Toby) Vaughn. She is also survived by her 18 grandchildren: Michael Goolsby, James Goolsby, Mindy Allen, Kathy Farley, Darrell Ferguson, Cristy Eden, Brandy Goolsby, Derrick Goolsby, Ashley Mahaffa, John Ross Fields, Bobby Fields, Rebecca Cooprider, Steven Lawrence, Harley Lawrence, Haley Enoch, Emily Satterfield, Tucker Vaughn, and Shayna Vaughn; 31 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to the caregivers who helped comfort and care for Annie throughout the last few months. They would also like to express their sincere gratitude to Alive Hospice for the support, care, and love they so graciously provided for Annie and her family.

Through every season of life, Annie leaned upon the promises of her Savior. Though her family mourns her earthly absence, they find peace in knowing that her earthly trials have now given way to everlasting joy in the presence of her Lord and Savior.  Annie's legacy of faith, love, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Her greatest testimony was the life she lived and the love she shared, always pointing others toward Jesus. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is now home, healed and rejoicing in Heaven with her Savior.
